529 Plans

A 529 plan is a tax-advantaged savings plan designed for future education costs. Legally known as “qualified tuition plans,” are sponsored by states, state agencies, or educational institutions and are authorized by Section 529 of

the Internal Revenue Code.

There are two types of 529 plans: education savings plans and prepaid tuition plans.

The person who opens the 529 plan account is the account holder. The person the account is opened for is called the beneficiary or the student.

With the passing of Secure 2.0, there is the possibility of converting unused funds into a Roth IRA for the beneficiary - let's talk further if this can be a fit for your planning.
